PCA’s Historic 40–40 Season Deserves Recognition Despite Playoff Exit

The Cubs’ early playoff exit was disappointing. Still, it shouldn’t overshadow Pete Crow-Armstrong’s historic season. PCA became just the seventh player in MLB history to join the 40–40 club, reaching at least 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases in the same season. That’s an incredible combination of power and speed.

As a Cubs fan, seeing a young player reach that milestone gives me something to feel good about, even with the frustrating ending. Hitting home runs is exciting enough, but being able to change a game on the bases makes PCA especially fun to watch. He gives fans a reason to pay attention every time he steps onto the field.

Of course, individual achievements don’t replace a deep playoff run. I would have loved to see this season end with more October baseball. Still, both things can be true: the Cubs fell short, and PCA accomplished something worth celebrating.

Looking ahead, I hope this season is the beginning of something even bigger for him and the team. A historic milestone is memorable, but watching PCA help bring another championship to Chicago would be even better.
